New York selected a contingent of its top high school players to participate in the FIBA World Basketball Championships in Istanbul, Turkey.
However, Team NYC did much more than participate, they took home the top prize.
Coached by Rice assistant coach Kimani Young, former St. Raymond assistant Bernard Bowen Jr., and Dennis Kazimir, formerly the director of operations at Seton Hall, Team NYC defeated Efes Pilsen (Turkey 19U Champions) 74-65 for the World Basketball Festival Championship.
Jermaine Sanders and Kadeem Jack were voted Co-MVP's on a team that also included Daniel Dingle, Ryan Rhoomes, Derrick Randall, Corey Edwards, Tyquan Goodlet (6'3" PG Thomas Jefferson), Jevon Thomas, Mike Taylor, Kamari Murphy and Moussa Kone (6'8' FDA III)
Jack multitasked during the event by pre-recording his verbal commitment to Rugters while playing in Turkey.
