Sixteen (16) of the NYC metropolitan region's High School and Prep Basketball Programs and a host of college prospects to be represented in this "invitation only", single-game elimination classic. This summer promises to be equally as exciting with the
return of powerhouse Boys & Girls High School, back to back NYC PSAL city champions and defending 2010 SMARTBALL Champion, 2010 SMARTBALL runner-up New Jersey's talent stacked 2010 national top 10 prep program NIA Prep, PSAL city semi-finalist Wings Academy (Bronx, NY) and a group of great newcomers including Queens, New York powerhouse 2010 PSAL Semi-Finalist Benjamin Cardozo, New Jersey's Paramus Catholic, and Rockland County standout Spring Valley. YES Inc., is dedicated to not only providing quality basketball competitions, but also to bringing the reality of what a "student-athlete" thoroughly incorporates. Each program participating has been extended the opportunity to have a full year of online SAT Prep provided by the College Board, accessible at school and home giving each participant a personalized sign-on ID with unlimited access to prepare themselves.
Having the Teachers College, Columbia University and the College Board are invaluable collaborating partners who invested in developing the YES Inc. Learning Academy. It is the mission of YES Inc. "To Get Student-Athletes College Ready", and the student-athletes participating in the YES Inc.
SMARTBALL Metro Classic will get our assistance. Over time, the YES Inc. Learning Academy will make a significant contribution to the graduation rates of student-athletes across America at the high school and college levels says, YES Inc. CEO - Russel Shuler.
As YES Inc., continues to develop the SMARTBALL Metro Classic, Director of Sports - Rudy King, works to give NYC something special. 'I feel great about this years field of competitors and again having the opportunity to facilitate an athletic event that is positive and influences our diversified demographic of student-athletes helping them explore the core principles of their existence as young men pursuing their academic goals. It is important for me as a person first to not really be concerned about what school the college-interested student-athlete is attending when they play here. Its about making sure these young cats get their priorities in order and respect the game of basketball and get a better understanding of what their mission is and developing a plan to execute. This is an exciting time of the year for me as the Director of Sports and I am looking forward to communicating with the athletes, parents and coaches throughout the eight day classic building new bridges to ultimately give an assist to the student-athlete working to build the amateur athletes toolbox'.
