DO YOU REALLY KNOW WHAT COLLEGE COACHES ARE LOOKING FOR?

NEW YORK, NY - In the competitive world of high school basketball recruitment, the window of opportunity is quite small. Today, a student-athlete is a freshman and by tomorrow they’re already a senior.

“I can’t tell you how many good players squander the opportunity to get a college scholarship,” said Maurice Wingate publisher of NYCHoops.net. “Many of the kids I see are good enough to get a free-ride to college but don’t know how to put their best foot forward during the High School Season when College coaches are checking them out.”

ARE YOU READY FOR THE UPCOMING HIGH SCHOOL SEASON?

Its not just about winning or losing. In the world of college recruiting, it's also how you play the game

As publisher of three of the Northeast’s most widely read Rivals.com sites, Mr. Wingate sees and evaluates thousands of players per season all over the nation. “I get calls and text messages every day from D-I, II and III College coaches asking for player recommendations or evaluations but most of the players I see are doing the exact opposite of what they need to be showcasing to get noticed by College Coaches or by scouts like myself. Everybody thinks it’s all about how many points they score. It’s not.”

Most student-athletes are unaware how to present themselves on and off the court according to Wingate. “Many good players have no college interest. Other players have college interest but don’t know what to do to turn that interest into a tangible offer or offers. Then there are those who have one or two offers but don’t know how to increase the amount or caliber of the offers they have.”
