Marauders Mash Brentwood

The No. 1 ranked public school on Long Island made their debut on the road at Brentwood tonight. Bayshore looked to keep their momentum going from last year and take down a scrappy Indians team. This historic matchup brings two great basketball communities together. Let’s break it down.

Bayshore's 6’4” SG Kingsley Rogers (Bayshore HS, NY ‘27) hit a free throw. Brentwood scored and got a triple from their go to guy 6’2” G Tyrell Davender (Brentwood HS, NY ’25). Bayshore’s 6’1” PG Carter Wilson (Bayshore HS, NY ‘25) who was All-Long Island last year knocked down a three, and 6’2” SG Corey Faines (Bayshore HS, NY ‘26) collected a loose ball for two. Davender scored but Faines got another bucket. Rogers finished a layup, and Davender hit a tough pull up. Brentwood scored after a stop, but Wilson scored inside.

Rogers threw down a slam after a steal. Bayshore’s big man finished a layup, and Davender scored. Wilson finished a miss for two, the Marauders led 18-13 after the 1 quarter. Faines opened up the second quarter with a layup, Brentwood missed and the big man for Bayshore scored again, they led 22-13.

Brentwood hit a three, and Rogers got by the defense for two. Carter scored after a miss, then Brentwood missed, and Rogers scored again. The Indians converted an and1. Faines had an offensive putback, and Davender hit a pull up. Rogers hit a shot; the Indians answered but Rogers buried a triple to end the half.

Bayshore led 37-23, made four free throws to start the third quarter. Faines scored off a miss, Brentwood hit a freebie and Rogers added two more. Faines bullied the defense for two, and Davender scored. Wilson would get by everybody for two. Bayshore scored, got a stop. Wilson hit a three then found teammates for back-to-back hoops. Davender buried a three, Faines found another miss for two and the third quarter ended.

Wilson started the fourth quarter with a three, and Brentwood hit one as well. The Marauders scored inside and Faines went off. He finished back-to-back hoops, Bayshore scored again, and Davender finished a tough hoop before Bayshore made a lot of subs.

The final score was 76-42 Bayshore. Davender was fantastic for Brentwood with 18 points and will be tough all year. Roger's has improved he finished with 16 points, and Wilson added 19 points with a ton of assists. Faines had a monster double-double with a game high of 20 points.
