Loughlin Back on Track; Clips Xaverian

Bishop Loughlin avoids hitting a three game loosing streak as it triumphed over Xaverian High School 66-60 on Friday. In a short week the Loughlin Lions rank fell down two spots to number six after losing to Rice on Sunday and Holy Cross on Tuesday.
James Johnson was the leading scorer getting another loss as Xaverian controlled the first three quarters of the game on Friday. The Loughlin home crowd is usually roaring during victories, but was silenced to whispers as they Lions fought their way back into the game.

At first, Loughlin was no match for Xaverian's two three zone. There was no penetration whatsoever and no outside shooting to spread the zone. They didn't score at all for the first half of the second quarter. The Lions did manage take the lead after a few steals and an and-1 play by Devon Elliot with 14 seconds left in the first half put them up 30-26 at halftime.
Xaverian scratched back in to tie the game up, then guard Rasheem King hit a big three pointer to take back the lead 32-35 early in the third quarter. The score bounced back and forth at this point until Doron Lamb was fouled driving to the bucket at hitting the free throw to put the Lions up 42-41.
That was all she wrote. Xavier never got the lead back in the fourth quarter. They continuously fouled Loughlin to try to keep them close, but had no success. James Johnson's two three's made Xaverian respect his shot and opened up the zone to allow for penetration. Loughlin was back on their A game at that point and had their crowd's cheers to push them to victory.
