Landesberg to Miss McDonalds All-American

Sylven Landesberg may have to miss the McDonald's All-American Game.
RISE Magazine reported the Virginia-bound Landesberg may have to sit out the March 26 All-Star contest in Milwaukee in order to play in the New York State Federation championship March 30.

New York rules make a player ineligible after playing in non-sanctioned games like the McDonald's contest, Rise reported.
The 6-foot-5 Landesberg scored a game-high 24 points to lift Holy Cross to a 56-48 victory over Christ the King in the CHSAA AA city championship at Fordham March 9. Holy Cross, currently ranked No. 15 in the ESPN High Elite 25, received a bye into the New York State Federation title game in Glens Falls the weekend of March 28.
Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but because Easter falls this year on March 23, the Federation finals were pushed back a week.
Ryan Canner-O'Mealy of RISE reported that Holy Cross coach Paul Gilvary and school principal Joseph Giannuzzi wrote a letter to the state athletic association petitioning for an exception to be made in this case.
"I'm hopeful," Gilvary told RISE, adding he thinks he will hear by Monday. "I'm not sure I'd say confident, but I'm hopeful."
