NYChoops.net got a chance to speak to the athletic 6 foot 1 forward and her high school coach about her recruitment.
"She has only been playing for about five years she is a tremendous athlete and a great kid it's been a pleasure to have her for four years," said St. Mary's head Coach Tom Flinn. "She is a quiet leader, nothing rattles her out there. I know she can play in the Northeast10 (D2), if she went somewhere that had a couple of years to work with her in the post.
Flinn believes by the time James is a junior in college she will be able to help a D1 program. After watching James play at the Rose Classic Super Jam I find it hard to disagree with coach Flinn.
"So far I visited Buffalo and Adelphi officially and Merrimack unofficially," said James. "Adelphi has offered me but Buffalo and Merrimack has not offered me yet as of yet and are still in the picture.'
James is a two sport star that also plays Lacrosse at her high school and has realistic expectations. "When looking at a school I don't expect to go in and be a starter as a freshman but I want to be in a situation that I will contribute as a freshman. I'm looking for a good school and a great basketball program low D1 high D2 good location good size is what I'm looking for,' she said.
