Knights Scalp Minisink as Wright Sits

On Tuesday night, the Mount Vernon Knights drove all the way up north to find out there were real Indians. The intimidating Mohawk haircuts of Minisink Valley were not enough to distract the Knights who scalped them, 75-35.
By the end of the first, the Knights 19-11 with 1:21 minutes left on the clock. As Mount Vernon kept the lead, Minisink countered with an 8-0 run before seven straight points by the Knights. Kevin Jones hit four straight 3-pointers to end the quarter.

Midway through the half, the Knights were still up and this game was pretty much over before it began. However, there was a small problem swingman Sherrod Wright was not in the game. Mount Vernon stayed in the lead without go to man Wright, in the second half. According to the Journal News, when ask why, Coach Bob Cimmino would only say, "It was a team decision. He wasn't feeling up to it." When asked if Wright would be available to play in the regional final on Saturday, Cimmino said, "Why not?"
In the third, the Knights still lead while Wright remained on the bench 58-28. This was an easy victory for the Knights, who will continue on to their next road challenge while Minisink Valley stays behind in a loss to Mount Vernon 75-35.
