Even though lead guard Baylee Teal (Penfield '20) may only be 5'5" she isn't going to let her size get in the way of her dreams. Teal has dreamed of being a Division 1 player for years now and with her play this summer with Albany City Rocks there looks to be no doubt no that she is on her way to making that dream become a reality.

After a solid sophomore season at Penfield this past year, Teal was ready to prove what she could do on the national stage with City Rocks playing in major tournaments during the July Live Period in Kentucky and Georgia.

She was able to show that as an offensive facilitator there were no many who could contain her speed and quickness. Excellent at going into driving lanes, Teal used her size to become a dynamic finisher while also gaining much needed confidence that she could thrive against anyone of any level put in front of her.

"I am more comfortable now because I know what I can do after this summer," Teal said. "At Penfield now, I just will keep that in my head and play with a lot of confidence and play the same way."

Wanting to prove that her size wasn't going to hold her back from anything Teal was also strong as a defensive weapon as her harassing style of in your face defense created a lot of opportunities going the other way for her and her teammates.

One area that college coaches have stressed to Teal that she needed to work on was getting stronger, which she immediately took to hear as Teal noted that she has been in the weight room on a constant basis looking to get stronger and wider because she understands that room to grow taller is certainly out of her hands.

A star in the Class of 2020 in New York State, Teal earned an offer from Fordham on Sunday after a strong showing at the Rams Elite Camp in the Bronx, while she also says she holds heavy interest from St. Joseph's, UMBC, and South Alabama.

If this AAU season proved anything for Teal it's that she should be considered among New York's best now and that with a load full of confidence she isn't going to let her size be considered a detriment in any way anymore, seeing it as a full blown positive as she continues to shine in every aspect on the floor.

"Even though I'm undersized I know now that I can play with anyone," Teal stated.
