Life Center gets past Monsignor Scanlon, 51-44
It would be a match-up of the big men as 7'1" Maryland commit Trayvon Reed from Life Center (NJ) battled against 6'9" junior Jonathan Nwankwo of Scanlon. The individual battle would go to Nwankwo who finished with a double-double (18 points and 10 rebounds) versus Reed's 10 points and 8 rebounds however the bottom line is not the battle but the war.
Life Center would bolt ahead, 19-7 in the first quarter propelled by guard Tracey Carter. Scanlon would fight back with offense from George Pena and only trail by eight points at the half.
Unfortunately, Scanlon only managed to exchange baskets with their New Jersey opponent and would lose by six.
