BRONX, NY - On Tuesday night, the 2011 Five Star Orange & White Classic All-Star Game took place at Fordham University. As always, premier talent was on hand from all over the Northeast. Leading the entire way in a high scoring affair, the White Team (NBA division) provided more offense along with a semblance of defense to pull off a 107-94 win over the Orange team.
Players were divided into teams named after NBA franchises and played head to head since camp commenced on Sunday. Campers also participated in multiple stations designed to improve various skill sets. The twenty highest performing players in the camp were then divided into an Orange and White Squad and played in an All-Star Game and NYCHoops.net was on hand for all the action.
Leading throughout the game, the White Team led 62-50 at the half and ended up winning by 13 points paced by an MVP performance by 6'8" sophomore center Chris McCullough (#34 Salisbury School, CT).
McCullough put in a well rounded performance for the White team, scoring 20 points to go along with 8 rebounds and 2 blocks. #21 Cavon Baker, a 6'0"post grad player from NIA Prep (NJ) scored a game high 21 points with 6'3" senior Emile Blackman (#35 Half Hollow Hills West, NY) adding 16 points. The Orange team was paced by 6'3" senior Fadil Yacoubou (#35 Cardinal Hayes, NY) 6'4" junior Hallice Cooke (#23 St. Anthony, NJ) added 15 points and 6'8" junior Kentrell Brooks (#32 St. Anthony, NJ) contributed 11 points and #34 Jermaine Lawrence 10 points
In the younger NCAA division the MVP was Brian Hopkins, a 5'11" freshman guard from Pope John XIII HS in NJ. Hopkins stuffed the stats with 16 points 4 assists and 4 rebounds.
