EYBL Top Performers NY - Day 12

With the first two days of the EYBL (Session #2) in the books, three New York team participated.
While the NY teams have not played well, some of their players did stand out. One more day remains in the Hampton (VA) tournament. Here are brief recaps as well as top NY performers.
FRIDAY
CALIFORNIA SUPREME (CA) STOP METRO HAWKS (NY), 80-56
After falling behind by 16 at the half, the MetroHawks would never recover. Isaiah Lewis led the MetroHawks with 13 points followed by Jordan Fuchs 10 points and 5 rebounds. Abraham Lincoln PG Ethan Telfair played well at the helm scoring 7 points to go along with 8 assists.
OAKLAND SOLIDERS (CA.) EDGE ALBANY CITY ROCKS (NY), 63-60
Down by a point at the half, the City Rocks would fall short by 3. 6'9" rising senior Chinoso Obokoh (Bishop Kearney HS) paced the Albany, NY team with 14 points and 5 rebounds. Denzel Gregg added 13 points and 5 rebounds. Tyree Robinson led the Soldiers with 20 points.
BABC (MA) WALLOP NY LIGHTNING (NY), 74-53
Down by 19 points to start the second half, the Lightning would basically trade baskets with BABC in the second half en route to a 21 point loss. Jon Severe was the high man for the Lightning with 14 points and 3 rebounds. Rene Castro led BABC with 23 points.
SATURDAY
TEAM FINAL (PA) STOP NY LIGHTNING (NY) 63-48
The Lightning suffer their second double-digit loss, time against Team Final. The NY squad was again led by Severe who put down 18 points and 3 rebounds in only 15 minutes of play. Team Final outrebounded the Lightning 41-32 led by Davon Reed with 11 points and 8 rebounds.
CIA BOUNCE (CAN) BOUNCE ALBANY CITY ROCKS (NY) , 82-60
City Rocks took another hit on day two to the team from Canada. Only down by four at the half, the upstate squad fell apart in the second half and lost by 22 points. Manny Suarez was the high man for Albany with 15 points and 5 rebounds. The bounce was led by Tyler Ennis and Andrew Wiggins with 22 points and 24 points respectively.
ALABAMA CHALLENGE (AL) OVERTHROW METRO HAWKS (NY), 71-65
Shooting only 35.8%, the MetroHawks go 2-0 in the EYBL as the team from Bama pulls off the win. Fuchs was the leading scorer for NY team with 15 points and 9 rebounds but Jeremy Johnson did the most damage for the Challenge with 19 points and 7 rebounds. Lewis has been the top EYBL performer for the MetroHawks overall averaging 13 ppg.
WISCONSIN PLAYGROUND (WI) BEAT NY LIGHTNING (NY), 85-59
The Lightning go 0-3 to end the second day of EYBL action. Dayshon Smith filled up the stat sheet for the Lightning with 13 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals. Duane Wilson ran the Playground with 22 points and 4 assists. Smith has been the top EYBL performer for the NY Lightning overall with 15.3ppg and 2.5rpg
MEAN STREETS (IL) OUTRUN ALBANY CITY ROCKS (NY) 55-40
City Rocks go winless in the first two days due to a sluggish first half against the Mean Streets along with no Albany players achieving double-digits and only shooting 31.7%. 6'3" Shadell Millinghaus (Schenectady HS) did the most work for the City Rocks with 9 points and 9 rebounds. The Illinois team was led by Kendrick Nunn who notched 17 points. Obokoh has been the top EYBL performer for the Albany City Rocks overall averaging 13.3 ppg and 6.3 rpg.
SUNDAY
  • The MetoHawks (1-6 overall) play Florida's E1T1 and the Team Texas Titans.
  • NY Lightning (2-5 overall) play North Carolina's Team United and Arkansas Wings
  • Albany City Rocks (4-3 overall) play Virginia's Boo Williams and Southern Stampede (GA).
