Ebanks Gets Release, Considers 5 Schools

Devin Ebanks secured his release from Indiana Wednesday and is considering five schools as his future destination.
The 6-foot-9 Ebanks, a Long Island City, N.Y. native who is a senior at St. Thomas More (Conn.), told Jeff Goodman of FoxSports.com that he's considering Texas, Memphis, Rutgers and a new player in the mix, West Virginia. Indiana apparently still has a slim shot.

"Those are my top four and the only ones I'll look at," Ebanks told Goodman. "I'm going to schedule visits to all four of them.
"I'm going to look for a school that had some of the same things I liked in Indiana. I want to go somewhere I can develop, play right away and have a great relationship with my coach."
Ebanks, the No. 13 recruit in the Class of 2008, asked out of his commitment to IU in the wake of the recruiting violations scandal that took down former IU coach Kelvin Sampson.
Before he had secured the release, no colleges were permitted to speak with Ebanks or his mother, Yvonne Jackson. Now there is sure to be a feeding frenzy for his services.
"We'll still see what happens," Ebanks said. "I'm going to stay in contact and not going to completely write Indiana off."
Ebanks told Goodman he will try and take a few visits in the next month. Texas, Memphis and West Virginia are still alive in the NCAA tournament.
Rutgers, which did not qualify for a postseason event, has had a big week, gaining commitments from 6-8 St. Benedict's Prep junior Greg Echenique, who turned down Duke, Maryland, Villanova and Notre Dame, among others, to play for Fred Hill, as well as 6-7 Blair Academy junior Austin Johnson.
