"Now can we get some love," asked East Coast Elite head coach Terrell Meyers when his team took down the Playaz Club from NJ, 61-49, in the semifinals. "We won our games today even though we're missing some guys." Coach Meyers and his East Coast Elite demanded recognition as they moved up the ladder, defeating the Juice All-stars, 73-70, to advance to the semis.
Coach Meyers credited a strong performance throughout from rising senior Elijah Bonsignor (St. Thomas More) who scored key points against the Playaz that allowed ECE to move forward to play against Team Expressions in the chip.
It would be an MVP performance in the championship by 6-foot rising Corey Crawford (21 points) from Phelps HS that would give the Delaware squad an 85-73 victory against a tough Expressions Elite team. 6-foot-5 Corey Blake from Rustin HS would add 14 points and Expressions was led by Khem Birch with 18 points.
Team Lucky, Unlucky Against Kingdom Elite All-stars
In the 17U Gold bracket championship, Team Lucky Runnin' Rebels (NY) would fall to New Jersey's Kingdom Elite, 80-71 with a solid performance by 5-foot-8 rising senior PG Isaiah Morton (23 points) from Vineland HS.
Tied at the half at 37 apiece, Morton would drop three 3-pointers , factored into his 13 second half points to lead his team to a 'W', earning MVP honors. Team Lucky R.R. was paced by Mike Taylor with 21 points.
