New York players that were also noticeably absent from the Regional Game were Rutgers bound Mike Williams and St. Joe's commit Shavar Newkirk. Both are currently in Germany representing USA 18U Team coached by Michael Olson, preparing for their first game this Saturday against the team from Chile.
Although, New York was shorthanded they still had enough firepower to pull off a victory for the home team. In a riveting game that had two lead changes and four ties in the first half followed by five lead changes and four more ties in the second half, the Home team would squeak out a 102-97 overtime win.
Carrington earned MVP honors for the Home team with 18 points with Manhattan College bound teammate Samson Usilo finishing with 17 points. The Away team's Ja'Quan Newton led his team with a game high 23 points with Marial Shayok contributing 12 points in a losing effort.
A fifth future Seton Hall Pirate, Isaiah Whitehead, was to play in the Jordan Brand Classic National game, but did not participate due to a hamstring injury.
