B.A.B. Invitational Features Top HS Teams

New York, NY - Big Apple Basketball will host the 6th Annual Big Apple Basketball Invitational on Saturday, January 17 at Baruch College and Monday, January 19, 2009 at Hunter College in New York City.
The invitational features 15 top high school and prep school teams from New York, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Florida and Connecticut.
"This could be potentially the strongest field we've ever had in the Invitational. We've had a lot of big time players and teams over the past five years, but in terms of quality strength of schedule…from top to bottom, this might be the best!," said Big Apple Basketball President, Jason Curry
The invitational will feature New York City/Metro schools: Abraham Lincoln, Rice, Thomas Jefferson, Bishop Loughlin, Archbishop Molloy, St. Peter's and Benjamin Cardozo; along with Jamesville-Dewitt (Syracuse), Pine Crest (Florida), Long Island Lutheran (Long Island), Notre Dame Prep (Massachusetts), Apex (New Jersey), St. Thomas More (Connecticut), Blair (New Jersey), and Greenport (Long Island).
Abraham Lincoln boasts arguably the best high school player in the country in Lance Stephenson, (uncommitted). Other notable players are Rice star, Durand Scott (committed to Miami); Brandon Triche (Jamesville-Dewitt, committed to Syracuse); Brandon Knight (Pine Crest - rated the #2 junior nationally by Rivals.com); Dan Jennings (St. Thomas More - committed to West Virginia); Notre Dame Prep's Sean Kilpatrick (committed to Cincinnati); Blair's Austin Johnson (committed to Rutgers); OD Anosike (St. Peter's – committed to Rutgers); along with several other nationally ranked juniors and seniors.
Former participants in the BAB Invitational include: Michael Beasley (Notre Dame Prep/Miami Heat); Jonny Flynn, (Niagara Falls/Syracuse); Danny Green (St. Mary's/North Carolina); Sylven Landesberg (Holy Cross/Virginia) and Justin Burrell (Our Saviour Lutheran/St. John's).
All proceeds from this event support the Big Apple Basketball scholarship program which assists 40 NYC area unsigned seniors in gaining college scholarship opportunities based upon their academic achievements and basketball ability.
