Albany Academy Upsets MaGinn

NYC Hoops #7 ranked Albany Academy Cadets defeated defending NYS Champion Bishop Maginn in front of 7,000 people on Tuesday at the Times Union Center to advance to the Section 2 Final next Tuesday March 10.
Academy overcame Taran Buie's 31 point outburst to advance in the State Playoffs, 60-59.

According to Cadet's assistant coach Jim Hart, it would be the biggest catch in history, ironically, for Section Two's all time leading receiver, Jimmer Bennett. Bennett, a senior who also plays football would catch a Hail Mary pass for a lay-up at the buzzer to win the game for Academy in overtime.
The Cadets were led by Fairfield-bound Jamel Fields with 22 points and 6-foot-10 Iona-bound Chris Pelcher, who chipped in with 16 points and 14 rebounds.
Up until Tuesday's loss, Bishop MaGinn had not lost a game in Section 2 for three straight years.
