New Girls Coach @ Brooklyn Collegiate

Brooklyn Collegiate recently went through a varsity coaching change on the boy's team. There was also been a coaching change on the girls varsity team.

NYCHoops.net spoke with Lady Lions new head coach Rodney Johnson.

Johnson, who is the Co-Founder/Executive Director of the Exodus Basketball Program, has been off the scene for a while. "[I] took a two year break after my partner [Apache Paschall] passed and my mother," he said. Johnson said he dealt with 22 deaths in one year.

While on leave, Johnson said that he left the AAU program responsible for producing a majority of the top girls players in New York including Epiphanny Prince and Bianca Cuevas in the hands of Thomas Davis. "He played for me," said Johnson.

"Everyone kept calling me to coach," said Johnson who once again felt the itch to get back into the game. On May 19th Johnson said he was offered the position as girls head coach at Brooklyn Collegiate. "I accepted on the 22nd," said Johnson. "I officially met the girls last Friday."

Johnson believes he can make the PSAL Class AA high school division team a national program. "It has five returning players, two sophomores, two freshmen and a junior [and] they can play" he said. "

Johnson will be taking over from Grigoriy Agrest. The Lady Lions finished 8-7 this season.
