DICK's Nationals Starts In NYC on April 3rd

The DICK'S Sporting Goods High School National Tournament (DICK's Nationals) formerly known as the National High School Invitational (NHSI) launched in 2009 at Georgetown Prep in Bethesda, Md.

The event was created by Paragon Marketing Group to provide a platform for top nationally ranked high school basketball teams to compete against one another in a season ending tournament.

The 2009 boys tournament was won by Findlay Prep (Nev.) with the girls tournament won by Seton Keough (Md.).

The DICK's Nationals is a single elimination tournament with 8 boys teams and 4 girls teams. It's important to note that these are the actual high school teams and not All-Star teams.

The event was played in the Washington, D.C. area for 5 years before moving to New York in 2014 after partnering with new title sponsor DICK'S Sporting Goods.

Teams are selected based on the merit of their regular season play. They also must have the permission of their governing body (ie; state association) to participate. One of our goals in creating this event is for teams nationwide to strive to finish their season as champions of the DICK'S Nationals.

  • The boys field includes defending NHSI Champion and #1 ranked Montverde Academy (FL), as well as three different 2014 State Champions: Northside Christian Academy from North Carolina, The Sagemont School from Florida and Rainier Beach High School from Washington.

  • The Girls field features 2012 Champion and currently #10 ranked Riverdale Baptist, as well as three different 2014 state champions: #18 Miami Senior High School from Florida, Fremont High School from Utah and Edgewater High School, another state champion from Florida.

The tournament starts on Thursday, April 3 with 4 Boys quarterfinal matchups at Christ the King High School. On Friday, April 4, Boys and Girls semifinal games are played at Christ the King. Four games each day. Finally on Saturday, champions will be crowned at the historic Madison Square Garden.

All games will be televised live on ESPN networks (ESPNU, ESPN2, ESPN). We are hopeful that local NYC basketball fans will attend to show the nation that NYC is the Mecca for high school hoops.
