NYCHoops.net (Powered by Rivals.com) ranks the top 10 basketball teams in New York City, Long Island and Westchester/Upstate (thirty teams total) with updates weekly.
Movement up and down the ranking or lack thereof is based on:
One way to become ranked is to have a winning record while beating ranked or bubble teams on a consistent basis. One lucky win doesn't count. It's less about how many games a team has won and more about the level of competition you've beaten. Teams that are in weaker divisions can bolster their chances to become ranked by maximizing who they opt to play in their non-league schedule. Many of the ranked L.I. and Westchester teams in weaker divisions play competitive schedules against ranked opponents.
Rankings are updated on Monday and are based on games played from Monday - Sunday.
